Eastern Shore of Virginia Viticultural Sign

On Monday, May 7, 2012, Secretary Haymore, of Agriculture and Forestry unveiled the Eastern Shore sign that announces to travelers that they have entered a particular Virginia American Viticulture Area or wine region.  There will be two signs; one at either end of the Shore, aimed at attracting more visitors to Virginia wineries.  The unveiling occured at Chatham Vineyards on Church Creek in Machipongo, Virginia.  Chatham Vineyards has been cultivating grapes since 1999 and is owned by the Wehner family, located on Chatham Farm, a working farm for the past four centuries.
